DQI Training & Qualifications

Build the capability to govern AI and data in practice.

Develop the knowledge, judgement and practical skills to assess governance, evaluate evidence and turn findings into improvement. The DQI professional qualification pathway takes you from foundational understanding to assessment, advisory practice and professional leadership.

Optional orientation / Before professional certification

DQI Intro

Discover whether DQI is right for you. Curious about DQI, but not ready to commit to professional certification? Explore what DQI is, the problems it addresses and its relevance to your role or organisation.

New to the model? Take the guided DQI tour to see how the 12 domains, 112 measures and evidence fit together. No sign-in is needed. Continue with Intro when you want to connect those ideas to your own work.

Explore before you commit

  • Understand why data quality and governance matter when organisations use AI.
  • Explore practical examples of hidden data flows, unclear ownership and missing evidence.
  • Consider the questions DQI could help you answer in your own work.
  • Decide whether to explore DQI further for yourself or your organisation.

A starting point for the curious

No previous DQI knowledge is required. Examples and personal reflection help you make an informed decision about your next step. There is no examination, pass mark or professional credential.

Your next step is your choice

Explore professional certification, discuss DQI for your organisation, or take time to consider what you have learned. Intro is optional and is not a prerequisite for DQIA Foundation.

The professional certification pathway begins with DQIA Foundation. DQI Intro is a separate orientation, not a qualification or examination preparation course.

Allow about 60 minutes for six self-paced topics. Enter your email address, verify it with a one-time access code and start learning. Your progress is saved, so you can leave and return whenever you need. No password, booking or staff approval is required.

Optional software development module: explore product discovery, AI-assisted coding, independent testing, agent permissions, delivery performance and supplier handover through practical use cases. Allow about 30 additional minutes. Based on the proposed DQI software development extension; it is not required for Intro completion.

Why evidence matters

From understanding governance to proving it operates.

Policies and frameworks describe what an organisation intends to do. Professional assessment asks what it can demonstrate is actually happening. DQI qualifications develop the ability to evaluate evidence, reach defensible conclusions and help organisations establish Operational Trust.

  • Distinguish assertion from evidence.
  • Check whether documented controls operate in practice.
  • Evaluate evidence quality and confidence.
  • Keep professional judgement grounded in evidence.
  • Explain and defend assessment findings.
  • Use findings to inform practical improvement.

01 / Know and understand

DQIA Foundation

Understand the language, principles and structure of DQI. Foundation is the entry point for professionals who need a shared understanding of evidence-based AI and data governance.

Ready to go further after Explore or Intro? Foundation begins the professional certification pathway. You can also start here directly: neither the guided tour nor Intro is a prerequisite.

What you will learn

  • Why DQI exists, the problems it addresses and the common language of the DQI Canon.
  • The DQI Standard: 12 connected governance domains, 112 measures and the 0–5 maturity scale used to examine organisational capability.
  • How the DQI publications and professional toolkit support your work.
  • The difference between assertion, evidence and professional judgement.
  • Evidence relevance, sufficiency, reliability and confidence.
  • How a current-state assessment works and how findings support improvement.
  • The foundations of Operational Trust.

Who it is for

Professionals in governance, risk and compliance; data and AI; audit and assurance; technology and architecture; transformation and programme delivery; business analysis; information security and privacy; and organisational leadership.

Entry and assessment

No previous DQI qualification is required. Assessment is through the controlled Foundation examination. Successful candidates are awarded DQIA Foundation and may progress to DQIA Practitioner.

What Foundation establishes: knowledge and understanding. It does not certify independent competence to conduct a DQI assessment.

Want to see the model before choosing a qualification? Explore the domains and evidence or start the optional DQI Intro.

02 / Assess and evidence

DQIA Practitioner

Learn to conduct and defend a professional DQI assessment. Practitioner develops the practical competence to establish an organisation's current state through structured assessment, evidence evaluation and professional judgement.

Prerequisite: DQIA Foundation.

What you will learn

  • Define assessment purpose, scope and boundaries; identify stakeholders and evidence requirements.
  • Plan assessment activity and conduct structured interviews.
  • Distinguish policy or assertion from evidence of operating practice.
  • Evaluate evidence relevance, sufficiency, reliability and confidence; identify gaps and request further evidence.
  • Select and apply the DQI Standard, measures, maturity descriptors and supporting tools.
  • Distinguish symptoms from underlying causes and maintain traceability between evidence, measures and findings.
  • Produce defensible findings and current-state reports, conduct stakeholder playback and recognise when to escalate.

How competence is assessed

Scenario-based assessment tests application, analysis, professional judgement and practical use of the DQI toolkit. Candidates must show that they can use DQI as a professional working method.

A maintained professional credential

Successful candidates are awarded DQIA Practitioner. The credential is subject to DQI continuing competence and renewal requirements.

The assessment boundary

A Practitioner establishes and defends what the evidence demonstrates today. Solution design and improvement advice are developed at Consultant level.

Enquire about Practitioner

03 / Design, improve and advise

DQIA Consultant

Turn assessment evidence into improvement. Building on proven Practitioner competence, Consultant develops the ability to use a completed DQI assessment as the starting point for professional advisory and improvement work.

Capability you will develop

  • Interpret assessment results in organisational context and define appropriate future-state capability.
  • Develop strategy, prioritise remediation and build improvement roadmaps.
  • Advise on governance improvements, solutions and implementation.
  • Support organisational change and advise stakeholders and executives.
  • Apply DQI methods across complex organisational environments.
  • Help organisations progress towards Operational Trust.

From current state to future capability

A Practitioner establishes what the evidence demonstrates today. A Consultant helps determine where the organisation needs to go next and how it can get there.

Qualification and partnership

DQIA Consultant does not automatically confer a commercial partnership with DQI. Professional qualification and commercial authorisation are governed separately.
